Food in Delta cost 34.97% more than a year before.

The National Bureau of Statistics publishes a Consumer Price Index every month and breaks it down by state, so Delta has its own figure. In October 2024 its food index stood at 1060.0 against a base of November 2009 = 100 — up 34.97% on the same month a year earlier, which is 33 of 37 states.

This is not what food costs An index measures how fast prices are moving against a base period. It cannot tell you what a bag of rice costs in Ughelli, or whether it costs more there than in Asaba. Market prices for Delta are not yet published. The Bureau's Selected Food Prices Watch reports national and zonal figures: Delta is part of a "South South" row with five other states, and is not shown separately. So this page answers "how fast" and leaves "how much" open. Not yet published
34.97% food inflation over the year to October 2024. The food index is 1060.0, meaning food costs about 10.6 times what it did in November 2009, the base the Bureau measures against. Read from a document
27.85% across everything the index covers, not just food — index 747.48. Food is rising faster than the rest, which is the part that falls hardest on the lowest incomes. Read from a document

How this was read

Published only because the table checks out Read from table 5 of the National Bureau of Statistics Consumer Price Index release, the combined urban and rural index by state. Published only because every state's year-on-year and month-on-month change recomputes from the indices printed beside it. If any state's arithmetic had disagreed, nothing would have been published — a misread column shows up as changes that no longer follow from the indices printed beside them, and it would show up in all thirty-seven rows rather than only in Delta's.

An index, not a price. It says how fast prices are moving against a base period, not what anything costs — so it cannot answer what a bag of rice costs in Ughelli, and market prices are not yet published for Delta. The ranking against other states is ours; the Bureau publishes the rows and no ranking.
